ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Growing concerns regarding public sanitation have been raised following reports of an increase in waste accumulation across various districts in Aruba. The issue has drawn attention to the volume of debris, specifically food waste, being discarded along roadsides and in public areas.
According to a report by journalist Edward del Orbe of 24ora.com, the accumulation of refuse has become a visible problem. The report highlights that the presence of trash, including sushi and other articles left along the curb, is gradually being normalized within the community. This acceptance of littering as a standard occurrence has sparked worry among observers regarding civic responsibility.
Maintaining the island’s cleanliness is essential for both community health and the preservation of Aruba’s natural environment. The continued discarding of waste in unauthorized areas poses risks to public hygiene. Local stakeholders emphasize the importance of proper waste disposal to prevent the further degradation of public spaces and to reverse the trend of normalized littering.
