ORANJESTAD (AAN) – An elderly resident of Archimedestraat has raised concerns regarding repeated access issues to her property, alleging that vehicles associated with a neighboring Airbnb are consistently blocking her garage entrance.
Reports indicate that the driveway, which is marked with signage prohibiting parking, is frequently obstructed by guests and the owner of the short-term rental. The resident claims these obstructions have caused her to miss scheduled appointments and have prevented her from entering her home at night on several occasions.
Despite reportedly lodging complaints with multiple government bodies—including the Police, the Public Prosecutor’s Office (OM), the Department of Spatial Planning (DOP), and the Ombudsman—the resident states that a resolution has not yet been reached. The situation reportedly resulted in a physical injury when the resident fell while attempting to navigate the blocked exit using a walker.
Most recently, police responded to the scene on Saturday morning following a complaint about a vehicle with allegedly improper documentation parked at the location. Authorities reportedly instructed the driver to reposition the vehicle before continuing their patrol.
