The Lago Heights Community Garden Aruba initiative received praise from Prime Minister Mike Eman during its official inauguration at Lago Heights Park.
The community garden is part of the “Let’s Rise Together, Let’s Thrive Together” project, led by the Sunrise City Coconut Collective (SC3) under CEDE Aruba’s Ban Biba Bario program. The initiative has transformed a previously abandoned area into a vibrant space symbolizing unity, growth, and community strength.
According to SC3 President Tammy Richardson, the project began in mid-last year with a clear vision to create something meaningful for the community. She emphasized that the garden was built by the community itself, with dedicated volunteers playing a key role from the planning stage to the final planting.
Anand Sueman, another key contributor, highlighted that the garden represents more than just a green space—it stands as a symbol of collaboration, sustainability, and shared commitment. He credited the success of the initiative to the dedication and efforts of volunteers.
During the event, Prime Minister Mike Eman shared an inspiring message, noting that the government aims to plant 100,000 trees across Aruba in the coming years. He emphasized that the true strength of a community lies in its people and their willingness to contribute positively.
The Lago Heights Community Garden Aruba initiative concluded with volunteers receiving certificates of appreciation. The Prime Minister, along with volunteers and environmental advisor Francielle Lacle, planted a fruit tree to mark the occasion.
