ORANJESTAD – The AWSS odor problem Parkietenbos Aruba is raising serious concerns as officials warn that no immediate solution is in place.

During a parliamentary session, Parliamentarian Hendrik Tevreden highlighted that the current government has not introduced a new plan to address ongoing issues at AWSS. Instead, he stated that authorities appear to be relying on an earlier master plan that has not been fully implemented.

A new issue has now emerged at Parkietenbos, where wastewater that was previously sold can no longer be used due to poor quality. Residents in the area are also reporting an increasing odor problem, which is becoming more persistent rather than occasional.

The AWSS odor problem Parkietenbos Aruba is linked to broader concerns about the condition of the sewage system and operational failures. Tevreden pointed out that an internationally developed plan, supported by stakeholders, already exists but was not properly executed due to political complications.

He warned that Parkietenbos risks becoming similar to Bubali Plas, which has long faced odor complaints. Residents are increasingly worried about public health and quality of life as the situation worsens.

Tevreden also raised questions about previous decisions, including the removal of equipment worth around 10 million euros, which was intended to improve water quality by increasing oxygen levels. He questioned who is responsible for these decisions and why no supporting reports have been provided.

Despite government claims that the situation is under control, Tevreden stressed that reality suggests otherwise. He called for urgent action, transparency, and proper implementation of existing plans to prevent further deterioration.
