ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba Family Doctors Explore Medical Partnership With COA as the Aruba Family Doctors Association (Huisartsen Vereniging Aruba – HAVA) met with the Aruba Olympic Committee (COA) to discuss opportunities for future medical collaboration in support of the island’s athletes.
Recognizing the important role that healthcare plays in athlete development and performance, COA recently met with representatives of HAVA following the association’s appointment of a new board. The meeting included board members Dr. Marcel Ho-Kang-You and Dr. Melanie Ho-Kang-You, who discussed ways family physicians could contribute to sports medicine initiatives in Aruba.
During the meeting, HAVA expressed its commitment to supporting the health and well-being of Aruba’s athletes and indicated its willingness to assist wherever possible. One of the ideas explored was the participation of family doctors on the COA Medical Commission, as well as providing medical professionals to accompany Team Aruba (TEAMARU) during regional and international sporting events.
The Aruba Olympic Committee welcomed HAVA’s willingness to collaborate and thanked the association for its commitment to athlete care. COA said it will continue working with HAVA to further develop the partnership and strengthen the level of medical support available to Aruba’s athletes during training and competition.
