Tuesday morning, Minister Geoffrey Wever, responsible for Economic Affairs, Finance, and the Primary Sector, announced the official introduction of the “Carnet pa Productornan Commercial.” This initiative, launched on behalf of the Government of Aruba, aims to strengthen local agriculture more efficiently, stimulate national production, and promote food sustainability.
The new card serves as official recognition for commercially active producers in the Primary Sector, including farmers, livestock breeders, fishermen, and beekeepers. A primary benefit of the carnet is that it allows local producers to access fiscal incentives without needing to submit a request to Santa Rosa for each transaction. This measure is intended to reduce bureaucracy and expedite the duty-free import of specific products and materials required for production under Customs laws.
Minister Wever highlighted the successful collaboration between the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries-Santa Rosa, led by Nathalie Maduro, and the Aruba Customs Department, directed by Mr. Roderick Croes. Ms. Maduro outlined the registration process, which requires producers to submit documents such as a land title, valid ID, site plan, and a valid Chamber of Commerce registration. Mr. Croes explained the procedure for facilitating tax exemptions.
