Thursday strike canceled after talks
An Arubus labor agreement reached between the SEPPA union and Justice and Transport Minister Arthur Dowers led workers to cancel a strike planned for Thursday, October 1. The agreement followed talks that continued into the evening.
Bus service resumed
The development came after employees began the week with a two-hour work stoppage over the lack of progress on a collective labor agreement. Public transport service resumed, including routes relied on by hotel, supermarket and retail workers as well as students using school buses.
2027 budget includes worker demands
Dowers said employee demands and financial measures for Arubus have been incorporated into the 2027 budget. The government plans additional subsidies and revenue reforms intended to support the company and make room for an appropriate salary increase.
