Appointment took effect October 1
Edgar “Gachi” Erasmus officially became director of Aruba’s Instituto Biba Saludabel y Activo, known as IBiSA, on October 1, 2026. Sports Minister Gerlien Croes said the appointment followed an application and interview process as well as months of preparation and coordination involving the human-resources department and ministry.
IBiSA promotes movement, sport and health
IBiSA plays a central role in programs encouraging physical activity, sport and healthier living in Aruba. The ministry expects Gachi Erasmus to lead continued cooperation with sports federations, partners and other stakeholders while expanding opportunities for children, young people, adults and seniors.
Minister welcomes new leadership
Croes welcomed Erasmus and described him as a persistent coach with broad knowledge of sport and strong familiarity among Aruba’s athletes. The minister said the government looks forward to working with the new director to strengthen IBiSA and support a more active community.
