ORANJESTAD (AAN): The Stimami Sterilisami animal sterilization Aruba program has reached a major milestone, having sterilized more than 46,000 dogs and cats since its launch in 2016. The foundation confirmed that free sterilization services will continue throughout 2026.

During 2025 alone, Stimami Sterilisami financed the sterilization of 6,405 dogs and cats, bringing the total number of procedures performed to 46,352. These results were made possible through strong collaboration with veterinary clinics, animal welfare organizations, and community partners across the island.

Breakdown of sterilizations supported in 2025 under the Stimami Sterilisami animal sterilization Aruba initiative includes:

  • Caduary Veterinary Clinic in collaboration with Luna Foundation: 2,424 procedures

  • Animal Welfare Alliance Aruba (AWAA), supporting low-income families: 1,652 procedures

  • Veterinary Specialty Hospital via rescue foundations: 1,322 procedures

  • Veterinary Specialty Hospital via individual pet owners: 859 procedures

According to the foundation, these figures represent more than statistics—they reflect prevented suffering, improved animal health, and long-term benefits for Aruba’s community and public health.

Stimami Sterilisami expressed sincere gratitude to its supporters and partners, including Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, the Tourism Product Enhancement Fund (TPEF), Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA), One Love Foundation Inc., Setar N.V., AHATA, and numerous private donors. Veterinary partners such as VSH Veterinary Specialty Hospital, Caduary Veterinary Clinic, Luna Foundation, and AWAA were also recognized for their essential role.

The foundation emphasized that continued sterilization is critical, as overpopulation can rapidly spiral without prevention. A single unsterilized female cat and her offspring can produce more than 11 million cats within six years, while one unsterilized male dog can result in over 67,000 descendants in the same period.

Without sustained efforts like the Stimami Sterilisami animal sterilization Aruba program, animal shelters and rescue organizations would face overwhelming pressure, increasing animal suffering and negatively affecting Aruba’s tourism-driven economy.

For 2026, Stimami Sterilisami confirmed that all sterilization procedures under its national program will remain 100% free and accessible island-wide. The subsidy includes anesthesia, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medication, and a free microchip with professional installation at participating clinics.

Pet owners can register through stimamisterilisami.com to access the program and contribute to responsible pet ownership. The foundation reaffirmed its commitment to making 2026 another impactful year for animal welfare in Aruba.
