ORANJESTAD (AAN) — Parliamentarian Xiomara Maduro has congratulated Monumentenfonds Aruba (MFA) on its 30th anniversary, expressing appreciation for the foundation’s important work in preserving Aruba’s cultural heritage.
Over the past three decades, MFA has restored, maintained, and documented 19 historic monuments, including California Lighthouse, Stadhuis, School 1888, Weststraat 15, Steenweg 19, Cas Tan Tin, Cas Veneranda, Ecury Complex, Forno di Calki, and several other notable national heritage sites.
As a former Minister of Culture, Maduro highlighted her pride in supporting MFA’s efforts to ensure these monuments remain preserved for future generations. “Each restored monument tells a story. Culture must be lived, and monuments must be cared for so they continue to share our history,” she stated.
Maduro also thanked outgoing director Anne Witsenburg for her dedication and welcomed Petra Davis as the new director, wishing her every success in continuing MFA’s mission.
“Congratulations to Monumentenfonds Aruba on 30 years of dedication to preserving our past for our future,” she concluded.
