On Monday morning, the official inauguration of the Aruba Limpi initiative, the “Waste Zone” project in Barcadera, took place. This marks an important step toward a cleaner, more beautiful, and livable island for residents and visitors.
During the ceremony at Ecotech in Barcadera, Premier Mike Eman highlighted the project’s significance in improving the quality of life for communities and providing a practical solution to a common challenge faced by many families.
The event included speeches from various guests, including Ronella Croes, CEO of Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA), Minister Wendrick Cicilia, representatives of ATA, and officials from the Ministries of General Affairs, Environment, Nature & Culture, Tourism, Transportation, and Labor, alongside executives from Ecotech and the Bureau of City Inspector.
Premier Eman explained that for many citizens, the cost and difficulty of disposing household waste is a real challenge. The “Waste Zone” project provides residents with an accessible and practical way to responsibly dispose of waste, contributing directly to the cleanliness of their homes, neighborhoods, and communities. “Families often make great sacrifices to cover their daily expenses. When additional costs arise for waste disposal, it becomes a burden. This initiative creates a practical solution that upholds the dignity and quality of life of our people,” said Premier Eman.
The project builds on the momentum created by previous editions of “Baki den Bario,” organized throughout the past year across various neighborhoods on the island.
