ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Filomena College MAVO marked a historic milestone during its graduation ceremony on Thursday evening with the presentation of the inaugural Juf. Baly Award to top graduate Channery Dania.
The ceremony was held at the Renaissance Convention Center, where graduates received their diplomas and celebrated their academic achievements.
The Juf. Baly Award was established to honor the legacy of the late Anuesca Natalie Baly, who served as Director of Stichting Katholiek Onderwijs Aruba (SKOA) from 2018 to 2026. Recognized for her dedication to education and youth development, the annual award includes a trophy and a cash prize to recognize outstanding academic excellence and student leadership.
The award committee consists of Ron van den Brink, widower of Juf. Baly, Christopher Lake of ASTEC N.V., who initiated and sponsors the award, and Jessica Irausquin, Acting Director of SKOA. During the 2026 graduation season, the committee will recognize the top graduate from each of SKOA’s five MAVO schools.
Filomena College congratulated all graduates and wished them continued success in their future studies and careers.
