ORANJESTAD, Aruba – The Government of Aruba and Fundacion Cas pa Comunidad Arubano (FCCA) have officially launched a large-scale housing maintenance program covering more than 141 homes in Village, San Nicolas.
The project began with homes located on Caya Sint Maarten and Caya Guadeloupe and focuses on improving housing conditions and enhancing residents’ quality of life. The announcement was made during a community gathering attended by Prime Minister Mike Eman, Infrastructure Minister René “Baba” Herde, FCCA Director Julie Wever, residents, and community representatives.
Prime Minister Eman emphasized that the initiative goes beyond physical renovations and also aims to strengthen community well-being through personal attention and support. He noted that previous investments in Village included sidewalks, paving, landscaping, and the first phase of housing renovations.
The new phase will focus on maintaining and improving homes while also evaluating opportunities to upgrade surrounding yards and public spaces. The goal is to create a cleaner, safer, and more attractive environment for families living in the neighborhood.
Government and FCCA will also explore future opportunities to include privately owned homes in certain improvement initiatives to create a more uniform appearance throughout the community.
The Prime Minister stressed that improving the quality of life of Aruban residents remains a top priority and highlighted the government’s ongoing visits to neighborhoods across the island to identify community needs and work together on solutions.
The project will cover more than 141 homes in San Nicolas, and the government plans to continue similar neighborhood improvement efforts in other communities while launching awareness campaigns to encourage greater resident participation in community development.
Officials stated that strong cooperation between government and residents is essential to building a better Aruba for everyone.
