ORANJESTAD (AAN): The Department of Public Health (DVG) is urging all travelers who have recently returned to Aruba from vacations or international trips to closely monitor their health in the days following their arrival.
Due to increasing global cases of infectious and mosquito-borne diseases, the DVG Travel Health Alert Aruba highlights the importance of being aware of symptoms that may indicate an imported illness.
DVG advises travelers to take symptoms such as fever, headaches, joint or muscle pain, skin rashes, coughing, sore throat, diarrhea, vomiting, extreme fatigue, red eyes, and swollen glands seriously.
These symptoms may be linked to illnesses such as chikungunya, yellow fever, measles, or gastrointestinal infections.
The DVG Travel Health Alert Aruba recommends that anyone experiencing one or more of these symptoms should immediately contact their family doctor for proper medical evaluation and guidance. Doctors may determine whether further testing or preventive measures are necessary.
Travelers are also strongly encouraged to inform their healthcare provider about any recent travel history, as this information is essential for accurate diagnosis and timely response.
DVG emphasized that early reporting not only protects the individual but also helps safeguard families and the wider community.
The DVG Travel Health Alert Aruba remains part of ongoing efforts to monitor global health developments and keep the public informed.
