ORANJESTAD, Aruba — The FAVI Aruba Fundraising Goal for 2026 is between Afl. 50,000 and Afl. 60,000, with the foundation saying the money is needed to help cover operating expenses and continue developing projects for people who are blind or visually impaired.
FAVI Director Cetty Baarh said the organization depends on a combination of government subsidy, donations and fundraising activities to maintain its services throughout the year.
The annual donation campaign is therefore an important part of the foundation’s financial planning.
Baarh said FAVI hopes the community will help it reach the Afl. 50,000 to Afl. 60,000 target during this year’s campaign.
FAVI Aruba Fundraising Goal Supports Operations
According to Baarh, the government subsidy received by FAVI contributes toward employee salaries as well as part of the foundation’s operating expenses.
However, that funding does not cover everything the organization wants and needs to provide.
The additional money raised through donations and other activities helps cover remaining operational costs while also giving FAVI the ability to develop additional projects.
FAVI’s official donor information confirms that its annual campaign is an important source of funding for expenses, projects and maintenance activities.
The campaign generally runs from August through December each year.
Donations Help Maintain FAVI Services
FAVI provides support and guidance to people in Aruba who are blind or have limited vision.
Its services include rehabilitation, educational assistance, adapted materials, assistive technology and guidance intended to help clients live as independently as possible.
The foundation also works with children, adults, families, schools and professionals.
For visually impaired clients, some services require specialized equipment and adapted resources that can be costly.
Fundraising provides FAVI with greater flexibility to maintain those services and invest in projects beyond expenses already supported through government funding.
Fundraising Campaign Already Underway
FAVI officially launched its 2026 donation campaign in late August.
During the launch, the organization explained that contributions would help support guidance, rehabilitation, adapted education, technology, assistive devices and activities for clients.
The FAVI Aruba Fundraising Goal now provides a clearer picture of how much the foundation hopes to collect before the end of the campaign.
Baarh said the target for this year is between Afl. 50,000 and Afl. 60,000.
The foundation also organizes other fundraising initiatives, including walking activities and community projects, to supplement its income.
Government Subsidy Does Not Cover Everything
Baarh emphasized that FAVI does receive financial support from the Government of Aruba.
Part of that subsidy helps pay staff salaries, while another portion contributes to operational costs.
However, fundraising remains necessary to cover additional expenses and projects that fall outside what the subsidy can finance.
For a nonprofit organization providing specialized services, those additional resources can determine whether new projects can move forward or equipment can be purchased when needed.
FAVI Calls for Continued Community Support
The FAVI Aruba Fundraising Goal of Afl. 50,000 to Afl. 60,000 will remain a central objective of the foundation’s 2026 donation campaign.
FAVI says community contributions, together with government support and other fundraising activities, help keep its services operating throughout the year.
For Baarh, reaching the target would not only help cover the foundation’s remaining expenses but also provide resources for projects aimed at improving support for people with visual impairments.
The foundation is therefore encouraging residents, businesses and organizations to continue supporting the campaign through the end of the year.
