ORANJESTAD (AAN) – The Government of Aruba has launched the process of developing a National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy following its participation in the Third Ministerial Summit on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Minister Gerlien Croes represented Aruba at the UNESCO-organized summit held in Santo Domingo on June 25–26, 2026, where regional leaders endorsed a roadmap for ethical AI development.
The national strategy will align with regional priorities and focus on cooperation between the public sector, private sector and academic institutions. Key areas include integrating AI literacy into education, establishing strong AI governance and regulatory frameworks, protecting children and vulnerable groups, and expanding shared digital infrastructure.
Working alongside UNESCO Aruba, the University of Aruba, IPA, and other partners, the ministry aims to position Aruba as a regional leader in the responsible and inclusive use of artificial intelligence while preparing its workforce and education system for the digital future.
