ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Jair Britten, president of the Organizacion Pro Cunukero Arubano, says the DCALPHA project is helping strengthen dialogue and cooperation on food security among Aruba and other small island territories.
Britten said the initiative inventories the needs and challenges of small islands while encouraging governments, agricultural organizations and international partners to work together on practical solutions. He noted that geopolitical tensions and natural disasters have made food security an increasingly important issue.
Speaking about the DCALPHA conference held in May 2026, Britten stressed the importance of closer cooperation between Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire. He also called for greater support for local farmers, increased investment in agricultural production and direct funding to help strengthen the sector across the Kingdom.
