ORANJESTAD (AAN) – A delegation connected to La Guajira met with Prime Minister Mike Eman as part of efforts to strengthen cultural, academic and artistic ties between Aruba and the Colombian region.
The delegation visited Aruba at the invitation of Stichting Rancho to participate in activities commemorating Emancipation Day, which was recently proclaimed a national day observed on July 1.
Stichting Rancho President Clifford Rosa introduced Hiadees de Kom and Anthon De Kom, descendants of Surinamese national hero Anton De Kom who currently live in La Guajira, along with Maria Isabel Cabarcas Aguilar, director of Revista SER Caribe and Fundacion InspirARTE Aain.
During the meeting, the delegation presented Prime Minister Eman with the first edition of Revista SER Caribe and highlighted its second edition, which had previously been launched digitally during the “Bridge Between Generations” symposium at the University of Aruba. The latest cover honors Ramon Todd Dandare for his contribution to preserving the Papiamento language.
The delegation also formally invited Prime Minister Eman to attend the 15th International Bolero Festival, scheduled to take place in Riohacha, Colombia, from November 13 to 16, 2026.
Participants discussed projects developed by Stichting Rancho and Fundacion InspirARTE Aain to strengthen cultural, linguistic, academic, artistic and literary cooperation between Aruba and La Guajira.
