The RAPP Freedom Dinner Aruba event brought together representatives from the media, government, justice sector, and social organizations to discuss the importance of press freedom and freedom of expression in Aruba.
The event, organized by the Red Arubiano di Prensa Profesional (RAPP) on May 5, commemorated both Freedom Day and World Press Freedom Day. It marked the organization’s first official “Freedom Dinner.”
During the gathering, participants discussed several important topics affecting journalism and public communication in Aruba, including media ethics, lack of communication, misuse of media power, journalist persecution, privacy concerns, and the role stakeholders can play in strengthening democratic freedoms.
The RAPP Freedom Dinner Aruba initiative emphasized the importance of maintaining independent journalism, high ethical standards, and protecting freedom of the press on the island.
RAPP stated that its mission is to continue promoting professional journalism while defending freedom of expression and media independence within Aruba’s democratic society.
