Aruba’s Parliament has approved the first AIOF budget, authorizing a multi-year program of public investment for 2026 and 2027.
Budget passes after two days of debate
The measure passed with 11 votes in favour and seven against after two days of parliamentary debate, according to 24ora. Three members abstained.
Two opposition motions and an amendment did not pass. The first motion received nine votes in favour and 11 against, while the second motion and the amendment each received eight votes in favour and 11 against.
Afl. 59 million planned for public investment
The first budget for the General Investment and Development Fund, known as AIOF, provides Afl. 59 million for projects covering infrastructure, schools, housing, modernization of public departments and neighbourhood improvements.
The fund is designed to finance projects that take more than one year to complete, giving long-term public investments a continuing funding structure across budget periods.
