JetBlue Airways has announced strategic changes to its 2026 flight network, resulting in a shift in connectivity for travelers heading to Aruba. Citing low demand and a focus on efficiency, the airline confirmed it will discontinue its route between Newark and Aruba. However, simultaneous announcements reveal a significant increase in service from Fort Lauderdale.
Beginning July 9, 2026, JetBlue will offer daily flights from Fort Lauderdale to Aruba, St. Maarten, and Santo Domingo. According to Carib Journal, this expansion underscores a sustained preference among U.S. travelers for Caribbean destinations during the summer months. Data from Allianz Partners indicates that Aruba remains a top choice for American tourists between May and September.
The island’s tourism sector continues to show resilience despite rising travel costs. Factors contributing to Aruba’s strong performance include its reliable weather and the ease of U.S. Preclearance at Queen Beatrix International Airport. Furthermore, hotel analytics firm STR reports strong growth in occupancy and revenue across the region, with travelers increasingly opting for extended stays and comfortable, home-style rental options.
