ORANJESTAD (AAN): Prime Minister Mike Eman attended the “Security without Borders” & Aruba Social 2026 Forum on Thursday, where he delivered a strong message on international cooperation, shared responsibility, and the human aspect of security.
The international event, organized by ASIS International together with its Dutch Caribbean chapter, brought together security experts from various countries to discuss modern challenges such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence in security, and innovation in protecting organizations.
Held at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, the forum gathered representatives from both the public and private sectors, as well as international experts. Local organizations such as the Aruba Police Force, Veiligheidsdienst Aruba, and the Crisis Management Office also participated.
During his speech, Prime Minister Eman emphasized that in a world facing increasing challenges—not only due to geopolitical conflicts but also organized crime—security should never be taken for granted.
“Like our health, security is often taken for granted until we face difficult situations,” Eman stated.
He highlighted that the concept of Security without Borders Aruba reflects a modern reality, where security is no longer limited by borders between countries, organizations, or communities.
“We should not look at borders to decide whether to cooperate. The safety and well-being of our citizens require collaboration without limits,” he emphasized.
Eman also stressed that despite increasing individual interests in the modern world, it is important not to lose a key value: concern for others.
“We see a world becoming more focused on self-interest, but we must not lose something fundamental—care for your neighbor and your community,” he added.
He pointed out that platforms like this forum are crucial for strengthening collaboration, sharing information, and driving innovation, especially in areas like cybersecurity and organized crime, which are becoming increasingly complex.
“Even with competition, there must always be willingness to share knowledge. Security is a shared responsibility,” Eman said.
In his closing remarks, Prime Minister Eman emphasized that the future of security depends on unity, collaboration, and a collective commitment to protecting the common good.
“We can only achieve a safer society when we work together, without borders or divisions, with one common goal: the well-being of our people.”
