ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Volunteers, residents and the Government of Aruba have continued a community initiative to repaint homes along Bernhardstraat in San Nicolas, helping revitalize the neighborhood and strengthen local pride.
Prime Minister Mike Eman joined volunteers in the painting project, thanking community members for donating their time and effort. He said the growing number of volunteers shows that residents have embraced the initiative and are helping preserve the unique character of San Nicolas.
According to Eman, the project goes beyond repainting houses by restoring historic buildings, improving the neighborhood’s appearance and creating a renewed sense of optimism. He added that the effort reflects Aruba’s tradition of preparing homes and communities with pride.
Project coordinator Glenda Thomasia said the initiative continues to attract support from residents, businesses and organizations, many of whom have donated paint, brushes and other supplies.
Resident Francis Ramon Ferrera, whose home was repainted, expressed appreciation for the project, saying it benefits not only Bernhardstraat but Aruba as a whole by making the island more attractive for both residents and visitors.
The home-painting campaign forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to revitalize San Nicolas through community participation and public-private cooperation.
