ORANJESTAD (AAN): Stichting HUNTO, led by Director Dalgis Montalvo, has successfully assisted a group of exam students in Aruba who were affected by vaping.
Some students were referred by teachers or hospitals after testing positive. Stichting HUNTO provided an outpatient program with psycho-education to understand the use, reasons, and effects of vaping. Teachers and parents were also involved in the program.
The initiative allowed the students to complete their schooling and take exams while remaining clean. Montalvo emphasized that the program builds trust, addresses broader youth needs, and integrates mental health, addiction awareness, and preventive support.
“This effort goes beyond substance use; it addresses youth well-being and engages families and institutions to create long-term positive impact,” Montalvo stated.
Stichting HUNTO continues to monitor, support, and track activities related to the tobacco law and youth health initiatives in Aruba.
