Members of the Movimiento Electoral di Pueblo (MEP) joined the Haitian community in Aruba at the National Library this past Monday to celebrate Haitian Flag Day. The gathering served as a cultural observance featuring various activities, including dance, music, speeches, and an art exhibition.
The event was attended by several prominent MEP figures, including Parliamentarians Evelyn Wever-Croes, Hendrik Tevreden, and Rocco Tjon. Their presence highlighted the party’s engagement with the diverse communities residing on the island and honored the invitation extended by the Consul General of Haiti, sr. François Jérôme Michel.
In her address to the attendees, MEP Leader Evelyn Wever-Croes extended her congratulations to the Haitian community both in Aruba and globally on their national day. She acknowledged the severe internal challenges currently facing Haiti, noting that the nation is going through difficult times with internal disturbances. She stated that Aruba continues to hold Haiti in its thoughts and prayers for a swift resolution to stabilize the country.
Furthermore, Wever-Croes expressed gratitude toward the Haitian population for their contributions to local society. “I appreciate everyone who left their home and family to come help us develop our economy,” she remarked. She closed her statement with a blessing for the community, wishing them prosperity and success.
