Centro di Bario Noord proudly presented the first mini expo that the National Library of Aruba (BNA) — Arubiana-Caribiana Department will hold in all neighborhoods. On Thursday, an educational and cultural workshop titled “Get to Know the History of Boy Ecury” took place at Centro di Bario Noord. The initiative aimed to shed light on the life and legacy of one of Aruba’s most important heroes, presented by the BNA Arubiana-Caribiana Department. The goal was to raise community awareness about a profound story of courage, sacrifice, and love for freedom, inspired by Boy Ecury’s history during World War II. Boy Ecury, a young Arubian who demonstrated unparalleled bravery, became a symbol of resistance against oppression. His participation in the clandestine struggle against the Nazi occupation in the Netherlands is a source of inspiration for current and future generations. The activity consisted of an interactive session where participants had the opportunity to learn more about Boy Ecury’s life, his role in the resistance, and the historical circumstances of the WWII era. Through storytelling, audiovisual materials, and guided discussions, the audience connected emotionally with the history. A special element was the Mini Expo presented by the National Library of Aruba (BNA) — Arubiana-Caribiana Department, displaying historical documents, portraits, and other relevant materials relating to Boy Ecury’s life and his contribution to the fight for freedom. Centro di Bario Noord was honored to open the first mini expo that the National Library of Aruba will bring to all neighborhoods.
