ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector, Mr. Geoffrey Wever, met with the board and members of CUA (Chamber of Commerce Aruba) to share information and facilitate an open dialogue regarding the Rijkswet houdbare overheidsfinanciën (HOFA) and the Landsverordening waarborging houdbare overheidsfinanciën (LWHO).
This meeting was part of a series of Town Halls with various organizations and guilds in Aruba. During the session, CUA members actively participated by asking relevant questions and sharing their opinions on different aspects of HOFA and LWHO.
CUA, representing over 200 members and more than a thousand employees across Aruba, acts as a voice for local businesses. During the discussion, Minister Wever explained that HOFA and LWHO aim to introduce a clearer and more flexible financial oversight structure, defining responsibilities, procedures, and control mechanisms, with benefits for Aruba’s public finances.
Minister Wever emphasized that the Town Halls provide an important platform for sharing accurate information and allowing citizens and organizations to form opinions based on the concrete content of the laws.
The meeting concluded in a respectful and constructive atmosphere, with ideas exchanged openly. The Town Hall series will continue with other community organizations to maintain transparent discussions about Aruba’s public financial future.
