During a parliamentary debate on Monday, May 11, MEP faction leader Evelyn Wever-Croes raised concerns regarding the adherence to the Rules of Order by government ministers. The discussion centered on a petition filed by MEP on April 17, 2026, requesting a meeting with the Minister of Education regarding recent public dismissals in the education sector.
While the meeting was convened within the mandatory 30-day period, Wever-Croes highlighted that previous petitions for meetings with the same minister remain unaddressed. She questioned whether ministers are selectively choosing which meetings to attend, a practice she argues violates the Rules of Order and undermines Parliament’s control function.
Who determines the agenda of Parliament? Wever-Croes asked, emphasizing that the lack of response from the Minister and the Parliament President regarding these concerns affects the principles of transparency and good governance.
