MIAMI — Planned American Airlines cabin upgrades could eventually provide a more modern and comfortable travel experience for passengers flying to and from Aruba.
American Airlines is preparing a major modernization of its onboard experience as the carrier competes for travelers seeking greater comfort and more premium services.
More than 800 narrowbody aircraft are expected to eventually receive new entertainment systems featuring 4K screens, Bluetooth connectivity and USB-C charging.
The airline also plans to increase the number of premium seats available across its narrowbody fleet, including first-class and Main Cabin Extra seating.
Currently, approximately 25% of seats on these aircraft fall within premium categories. American Airlines plans to increase that share to roughly 40% in the coming years.
Another significant improvement involves onboard internet connectivity. American plans to introduce faster Wi-Fi using Starlink beginning in 2027.
New aircraft equipped with the upgraded entertainment systems are expected to begin arriving during the second half of 2028. Upgrades to existing aircraft are expected to start later that year and continue into the early 2030s.
The developments could eventually be relevant for Aruba because American Airlines provides important air connections between the island and the United States.
However, the airline has not specified which individual routes will receive upgraded aircraft first. This means it is not yet confirmed when passengers traveling specifically on Aruba routes will experience the improvements.
Over time, American Airlines cabin upgrades could nevertheless give Aruba travelers access to improved entertainment, connectivity, charging options and a greater selection of premium seating.
