Casa Playa Aruba has officially opened after the former Royal Plaza property in Oranjestad was converted into a 62-residence condominium development.
Conversion represents Afl. 45 million investment
Investor Alberto Perret-Gentil said the residential project represents an investment of 45 million florins. Architects preserved elements of the building’s recognizable exterior while redesigning the former shopping centre’s interior for residential use.
More than half of residences sold
Thirty-five of the 62 residences have been sold, according to the project announcement. Some residents have already moved in, and the development has begun receiving its first guests. A former nightclub area now contains a pool overlooking Paardenbaai.
Perret-Gentil said the investment group wants to continue investing in Oranjestad and has discussed ideas including a waterfront boardwalk and kiosk improvements.
