An elderly pedestrian was injured following a Mahuma Roundabout Accident involving two vehicles on Tuesday afternoon in Aruba.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the Mahuma roundabout after receiving reports of a traffic collision and an injured person.
When officers arrived, they determined that two vehicles had been involved in a rear-end collision near the exit of the roundabout.
According to the initial report, an elderly pedestrian was crossing the road at a marked pedestrian crossing when the incident occurred. The man reportedly became startled and fell, injuring his hands.
People in the area assisted him after the fall. The pedestrian indicated that he felt well enough to continue walking and left the immediate accident scene.
He later arrived at a nearby supermarket, where people noticed injuries to his hands. They helped clean his wounds and contacted emergency services so that he could receive further medical attention.
Police later arrived at the supermarket while ambulance personnel were assisting and examining the injured pedestrian.
Meanwhile, officers continued investigating the vehicle collision at the Mahuma roundabout.
The crash reportedly happened as the vehicles were leaving the roundabout and travelling in the same direction. One vehicle struck the rear of the other.
Both vehicles sustained significant material damage as a result of the collision.
Aruba traffic police documented the incident and the circumstances surrounding the crash.
