The Government of Aruba has announced that the Burubundu Residences project is moving closer to its construction phase. Minister of Infrastructure, Housing, and Communication drs. Rene Herdé stated that the government is pleased with the progress, noting the initiative originally began during the 2009-2017 AVP cabinet and has now reached its final preparatory stage.
Located in the Pos Chiquito/Burubundu area, the development is envisioned as a modern community with approximately 850 to 1,000 housing units. The plans include a mix of family homes, apartments, and modern flats. Minister Herdé highlighted that the project aims to provide extensive green spaces, recreational areas, sports facilities, and economic opportunities for residents.
“We are not only talking about houses, but about a completely new community,” Minister Herdé remarked. The design features a central “green heart” around which residential, commercial, and social facilities will be developed, prioritizing tranquility and a balance between infrastructure and nature.
Residents can view the project plans and provide feedback at the DIP/DOW building. The government intends to finalize the preparatory phase over the next two months before inviting investors and construction companies. The project will follow all legal procedures under the Landsverordening Ruimtelijke Ontwikkeling (LRO).
