ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba’s Ministry of Kingdom Relations, Education, Youth, Innovation and Sport has confirmed that the maximum class size of 24 students will remain in place for the 2026–2027 academic year across kindergarten, primary and secondary education.
The policy, first introduced during the 2025–2026 school year, aims to improve the quality of education while supporting the wellbeing of both students and teachers. The ministry said smaller class sizes allow teachers to provide more individual attention, reduce workload and improve academic outcomes.
Under the policy, schools are also required to maintain a minimum of 16 students per class, as established by law, to ensure efficient use of resources and promote healthy classroom interaction.
The ministry acknowledged that some schools may face logistical challenges and encouraged school boards to apply the 24-student limit as closely as possible while considering available facilities and staffing. It added that it remains committed to working with schools and education authorities to find practical solutions whenever exceptional circumstances arise.
