The Aruba audit office budget will total Afl. 4.15 million in 2027, an increase of Afl. 265,000, or nearly 7%, over 2026, NoticiaCla reported on November 6. Its account refers to an ordinance published on November 2.
Independent oversight receives additional funding
The Algemene Rekenkamer Aruba examines the legality and efficiency of public spending. According to the report, the new budget was approved on October 22. The source does not specify whether the additional money will fund staffing, investigations or other activities.
Earlier report raised financial-control concerns
NoticiaCla links the increase to the institution’s continuing concerns about financial oversight. It cites the audit office’s May report, Buiten beeld, buiten controle, which described late fund budgets, missing annual accounts and spending without prior parliamentary authorisation. Those are the audit institution’s reported findings; the funding increase does not itself establish that those problems have been resolved.
