ORANJESTAD (AAN): On April 22, Aruba joined the world in celebrating Earth Day 2026, under the theme “Nos Planeta, Nos Poder” (“Our Planet, Our Power”), highlighting how individual and collective actions can shape the future of the environment.

The Aruba Earth Day 2026 Celebration—organized by Directie Natuur en Milieu (DNM) and supported by schools, community groups, environmental NGOs, and government partners—encourages the public to reflect on their impact and take action to protect Aruba’s delicate ecosystems.

The Aruba Earth Day 2026 Celebration stressed key focus areas for the island:

  • Energy & Efficiency: Promoting cleaner energy use and reducing carbon footprints.
  • Biodiversity Protection: Conserving unique marine and terrestrial species in the face of climate change.
  • Community Participation: Supporting beach cleanups, tree planting, environmental education, and volunteer programs.

For Aruba—an island rich in marine biodiversity and natural beauty—the theme “Nos Planeta, Nos Poder” underscores that local choices and actions matter, from reducing single‑use plastics to joining conservation projects.

Residents were invited to wear green or blue on Earth Day as a symbol of support for environmental stewardship, and to participate in community activities organized by local groups including Ban Lanta y Planta, Turtugaruba, Aruba Birdlife Conservation, and Aruba Conservation Foundation.

The Aruba Earth Day 2026 Celebration called on everyone to commit to sustainability: even small daily decisions contribute to protecting the planet.

“Cuid nos lugá ta nos responsabilidad. Nos planeta ta nos bida, y nos accion ta nos poder.” — A reminder that caring for the environment is a shared commitment for current and future generations.
