The Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) recently had the honor of recognizing two very special visitors — Mr. Walter and Mrs. Virginia Ohl from Painted Post, New York, USA — as Emerald Ambassadors for their remarkable 35+ consecutive years of visiting Aruba.
Held at the Renaissance Ocean Suites, the ceremony was led by Ms. Keyttin Silva from ATA, along with the hotel’s staff. The couple received an honorary certificate, thoughtful gifts, and warm gratitude for their unwavering loyalty to the island.
The Emerald Ambassador title is the highest recognition in Aruba’s tourism loyalty program, celebrating those who have visited the island for 35 years or more. Other levels include:
-
Distinguished Visitor (10+ years)
-
Goodwill Ambassador (20+ years)
Mrs. Ohl even proudly brought along her original certificate from 1993, a touching symbol of her long-standing connection to the island.
When asked why they keep coming back, the Ohls shared their heartfelt reasons:
-
The warmth and kindness of the Aruban people
-
The stunning beaches
-
The island’s rich culture and history
-
Clean, great-tasting drinking water
-
And above all, the sense of home away from home
On behalf of the entire island, Aruba Tourism Authority extends a heartfelt “Masha Danki” to Mr. and Mrs. Ohl for making Aruba their beloved vacation spot for over three decades. Their story is a true testament to the magic and welcoming spirit of the One Happy Island.
