The AVP faction has announced its support for concrete proposals designed to address the current housing crisis and rising rent costs in Aruba. Describing the scarcity of affordable homes as one of the most urgent social and economic challenges facing the island, the faction stated that the situation requires decisive action to assist local families, young professionals, and middle-income earners.
As part of the AVP-Futuro governance program, the faction outlined strategies including the evaluation and expansion of rent subsidies to assist families with limited income. The plan prioritizes increasing the availability of social housing through cooperation between the government, the FCCA, and private developers. A specific example cited is the Burubundu Residences project in Pos Chikito, which aims to create between 850 and 1,000 modern residential units integrated with green areas and recreational facilities.
