Staff from the Directorate of Public Affairs (DVG) recently participated in a workplace health screening initiative to mark World Hypertension Day. Organized by the DVG Health Promotion Section, the event was held this past Monday to encourage employees to monitor their vital health statistics and receive professional guidance.
Dahariana Evertsz, Head of the Health Promotion Section at DVG, explained that the activity allowed colleagues to check their blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, and height. Participants also received nutritional advice and informational materials from FADA. Speaking to DIARIO, Evertsz noted that the initiative is part of a broader mandate to promote health within the workplace. She emphasized that because DVG employees represent the “face of health” within the community, it is essential for them to maintain their own well-being.
Evertsz highlighted that hypertension is often a silent condition, with many individuals unaware they are at risk. She advised citizens to regularly monitor their blood pressure and sugar levels, particularly those with high-stress lifestyles or high salt and sugar intake. Furthermore, she raised concerns regarding high blood pressure and stress levels among youth, often driven by exams and diet. Evertsz urged adults to model healthy living habits to positively influence the younger generation.
