ORANJESTAD — Minister of Sports Gerlien Croes officially opened the 4th Women in Para Sports Americas Summit on May 1, marking a significant regional event hosted in Aruba. The three-day summit, taking place through May 3, gathers leaders and athletes from 29 countries across the Americas to discuss inclusion, leadership, and development in para sports.
With over 85 participants in attendance, the event focuses on sharing knowledge and inspiring female leadership in athletics. During the opening ceremony, Minister Croes highlighted the necessity of creating opportunities for women and building an inclusive sports ecosystem.
Shardea Croes, chair of the summit, and representatives from the Americas Paralympic Committee also addressed the audience. The program features sessions on coaching, community leadership, and female representation. The government emphasized its pride in hosting the event, which aims to drive positive change for the next generation of athletes.
