ORANJESTAD — Parliamentarian Eduard Pieters of the PPA faction has demanded accountability regarding the ongoing administrative chaos at the Civil Registry (Censo Aruba). During a weekly press conference, Pieters stated that the inability to register new residents is blocking students and workers from contributing to the economy. Pieters attributed the crisis to poor planning by the Council of Ministers, specifically naming Minister Arthur Dowers and Prime Minister Mike Eman. He argued that decisions to legalize residents were made without preparing the necessary infrastructure at Censo. “This problem has a first and last name,” Pieters said. The PPA faction revealed they have submitted 18 formal questions since March without receiving answers. The backlog is preventing returnees from signing contracts or accessing insurance, leaving them in legal limbo on their own island.
