The national campaign known as “Entreg’e of Nos ta Bin Busc’e” has officially concluded. Organized by the Cuerpo Policial Aruba (KPA) in conjunction with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the initiative aimed to reduce illegal weapons on the island. Authorities have announced that the voluntary phase has ended, and they are now entering a new, stricter phase regarding the illegal possession of firearms in Aruba.
During the period from March 24, 2026, to May 24, 2026, citizens were able to surrender illegal firearms, weapon parts, and ammunition anonymously and without fear of criminal prosecution. To facilitate this, the government placed special blue containers in San Nicolas and Oranjestad. Official reports state that a total of three firearms were handed in: a Beretta 9mm, a Winchester 255, and a Colt .38. Citizens also deposited various types of ammunition, totaling 359 loose bullets, of which 332 were .22 caliber.
In parallel with the voluntary surrender effort, the KPA and the Public Prosecutor’s Office continued to intensify investigations and actions against illegal possession. Official figures show that between December 1, 2025, and May 29, 2026, 40 suspects were detained and 13 illegal firearms were confiscated. Two of these confiscated weapons were fabricated using 3D printing technology. The Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that nine suspects have already been punished, while others await court proceedings. The police have emphasized that the opportunity to voluntarily hand over weapons has now ended.
