The Ministry of Education has taken another important step toward improving Multilingual Education Aruba following three days of intensive consultation sessions with professionals from the education sector.
Held on May 26, 27, and 28, the meetings brought together primary school teachers, particularly those working with students in grades one through three. Participants shared their experiences, suggestions, and perspectives regarding curriculum development, educational materials, and teacher professionalization.
According to Minister of Education Gerlien Croes, the discussions represented a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to strengthen Multilingual Education Aruba and ensure that the education system reflects the island’s linguistic reality.
During the sessions, educators participated in open and constructive dialogue focused on adapting and expanding teaching resources while identifying opportunities to better support students and teachers. The consultations also highlighted the importance of continued investment in training and educational development.
The feedback collected during the meetings will serve as a foundation for future actions related to curriculum improvement and teacher capacity-building initiatives. These efforts are intended to further enhance Multilingual Education Aruba and provide students with a stronger learning experience.
Minister Croes expressed appreciation to all participants for their active involvement and commitment throughout the process. She also thanked the IPA commission that conducted the educational assessment, as well as school leaders and teachers who contributed valuable insights.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the education sector to strengthen and empower schools while focusing on continuous improvement and the overall development of Aruba’s students.
A key objective of Multilingual Education Aruba is the creation of an inclusive learning environment where Papiamento, Dutch, English, and Spanish all play important roles in students’ academic growth and language development.
The ministry also plans to continue investing in modern and relevant educational materials that support multilingual learning and better prepare students for future opportunities in an increasingly globalized world.
