ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba’s Social Insurance Bank (SVb) says it will soon report to the Ombudsman on the internal measures it has implemented to prevent a repeat of an administrative error involving AOV pension payments.
In a statement, SVb acknowledged that the Ombudsman’s investigation identified several areas where the case should have been handled differently. The organization said it has formally apologized to the affected client and has already begun implementing internal improvements during the review process.
According to SVb, it has taken the Ombudsman’s recommendations seriously and is strengthening internal procedures and communication to prevent similar situations in the future. A report detailing the measures will be submitted to the Ombudsman in the coming weeks.
SVb reaffirmed its commitment to paying pensions accurately and on time while providing efficient and compassionate service to its clients.
The Ombudsman’s report stemmed from an administrative error that resulted in an AOV recipient receiving more than Afl. 30,000 in overpayments between 2018 and 2021. While the Ombudsman agreed SVb had the legal right to recover the funds, the investigation found shortcomings in the way the recovery process was handled.
