A delegation from the United States recently visited Aruba’s Prime Minister Mike Eman to sign a new Preclearance Agreement between the two countries, marking another milestone in their strong and enduring partnership.

Dylan DeFrancisci, Port Director at Miami International Airport, expressed his delight at returning to Aruba and participating in such a monumental event for both nations. He noted that this agreement has been in development for quite some time and represents an important step forward in the relationship between Aruba and the U.S.

DeFrancisci, who served as Director of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) from 2008 to 2012 when discussions about this agreement began, stated that the signing highlights years of successful cooperation and mutual progress. He praised Aruba’s ongoing innovation, airport expansion, and economic success as positive signs of continued growth.

Also present at the Bestuurskantoor was Diane J. Sabatino, Executive Assistant Commissioner of the CBP Office of Field Operations. She described the partnership between Aruba and the United States—particularly with U.S. Customs and Border Protection—as deep, historic, and enduring.

Sabatino noted that cooperation between both sides dates back to 1987, with U.S. preclearance operations established in Aruba in 1996. The recent signing reaffirms a shared commitment to border security, economic prosperity, and safe, efficient travel for those entering and departing Aruba.
