The Police Force Aruba (KPA) and the Public Prosecutor’s Office conducted extensive preventive controls in the districts of Noord and San Nicolas on Friday evening. These operations focused specifically on preventing the possession of illegal fireworks, known locally as “arma di candela,” and ensuring general compliance with safety regulations.
While conducting checks in the hotel zone, officers detained a man who was found in possession of a significant sum of cash. A subsequent search of his vehicle led to the discovery of narcotics and various artifacts related to drug offenses. Across the course of the evening, authorities seized a variety of contraband, including a knife, pepperspray, and drugs. Police inspected multiple vehicles and detained several individuals during the exercise.
The KPA has announced that these preventive efforts will continue through the weekend. The operation is scheduled to resume on Saturday at 6:00 PM and will persist until Sunday morning at 6:00 AM. The Public Prosecutor’s Office and the KPA reaffirmed their close collaboration, stating that their primary goal is to reinforce security on the streets and protect the community, particularly the youth.
