The President of the Aruba Police Union (SPA), Lito Lacle, stated that the top concern for officers is providing assistance to individuals with mental health issues. He emphasized that collaboration and communication between the police (KPA) and the mental health support agency Respaldo are currently insufficient. SPA has formally requested updates from Police Chief Ramon Arnhem and Minister of Justice Arthur Dowers to establish a joint protocol. Lacle stressed that officers must have proper guidance and protection while responding to mental health cases, and SPA is committed to pushing for a structured cooperation protocol between KPA and Respaldo.
