A Kelly hospital funding appeal is urging both immediate relief and a lasting response to financial pressures at Aruba’s hospital. AVP parliamentarian Dennerich Kelly set out his position in remarks reported by 24ora on November 4.
Immediate support and spending review
Kelly said the hospital’s financial difficulties have developed over many years. He argued that the non-profit institution needs adequate resources, while also examining how its money is invested.
Referring to comments by AZV’s Edwin Jacobs about possible additional funding, Kelly said short-term assistance could help cover outstanding costs and ease pressure on nurses, doctors and specialists. His remarks do not confirm a newly approved funding amount or payment.
Structural plan remains the stated goal
Kelly called for government, hospital management and other stakeholders to keep working together on a durable solution. He said hospital management was awaiting intervention by Public Health Minister Mervin Wyatt-Ras and expressed hope that ongoing dialogue would produce concrete decisions.
The report presents the lawmaker’s assessment and requests. It does not announce that a structural financing agreement has been signed or that the hospital’s financial difficulties have been resolved.
