ORANJESTAD – Parliament President Marlon Sneek has responded to criticism from the MEP parliamentary faction by clarifying that only six requested parliamentary meetings remain to be scheduled, not the larger number suggested publicly.
Sneek explained that several meetings have been delayed due to legal procedures, ministerial availability, official travel, and the need for updated information before discussions can proceed.
The pending meetings cover topics including the LAR process, Aruba House and European affairs, Prime Minister Mike Eman’s resignation, childcare policy, senior civil servant salaries (LNT), and a procurement matter involving Minister Gerlien Croes.
According to Sneek, the delays are not the result of unwillingness to convene Parliament but are instead due to coordination requirements and ensuring ministers are available to provide complete and up-to-date information before debates continue.
