Kingdom justice ministers from Aruba, Curacao, Sint Maarten and the Netherlands have agreed on measures to strengthen law-enforcement and public-safety cooperation.
Meeting addresses drugs and organized crime
During the four-country justice meeting in Curacao, officials discussed international drug routes, organized crime, youth crime and capacity across the justice system. Research presented at the meeting said the Caribbean Kingdom countries are not among the five leading transit countries for cocaine destined for the Netherlands.
Youth conference and crisis agreement planned
The four countries agreed to organize an academic conference on preventing and responding to youth crime. They will continue monitoring staffing and resource shortages in the justice chain and seek a clearer shared picture of criminal networks. The CAS-BES agreement covering fire services, disaster assistance and crisis management will be extended for three years. The next meeting is scheduled for June 2027 in Bonaire.
