Aruba HPV vaccination will expand to Grade 6 boys during the 2026-27 National School Vaccination Campaign, the Department of Public Health has announced.
Boys join existing school program
DVG said girls and boys in Grade 6 will now be eligible for the vaccine. HPV, or human papillomavirus, is a common virus that can cause several cancers later in life. Vaccination is offered at a young age before likely exposure to improve protection.
Parental permission is required
The health department said vaccinating both girls and boys broadens protection against HPV-related cancers, including cervical, mouth, throat and penile cancers. A parent or legal representative must authorize vaccination. Youth health services will not administer the vaccine without consent.
